What does Tastebuds do?
Tastebuds lets you find single people who love the same music you do. Either tell us your favourite bands - or hook up to last.fm if you have an account there - and we'll find matches in your area.
What is last.fm?
last.fm logs the music you listen to day-to-day, and based on this data suggests new music you may enjoy. As last.fm makes this information publicly available Tastebuds is able to identify the music you listen to just from your last.fm username. We then use this information to match you with other people who share the same taste in music. If you don't have a last.fm profile you can still get involved - simply enter 3 of your favourite bands and Tastebuds will do its magic!
Why do I have no matches?
Tastebuds is still growing so we're not always able to provide matches in all areas. Hundreds of people join the site every week so sign up and we'll let you know when people near you join. If you have very few artists (less than 10) on your profile you might need to add more to see better matches.
How do I add one of my matches to my favourites?
You can add a match to your favourites by clicking the green star next to their name in the search results or by clicking the green star on their profile page. When you favourite a user they will receive an email notifying them that they have been added to your favourites.
I'd like to block someone from messaging me. How can I do this?
To prevent someone from sending you further messages simply click the 'Block' button at the bottom of the conversation page.
How can I hide my profile?
It is possible to hide your profile in the Account tab of the Settings page. When your profile is hidden you will be completely invisible to other users on the site. You won't appear in search results, receive any emails from the site nor will your profile page be viewable. If at a later stage you decide to re-enable your profile all your information will still be there.
If I take some photos from Facebook will you publish to my wall?
No. We will never publish anything to your Facebook profile without your explicit permission.
How can I show my events on my profile?
You can list the shows you're going to by adding either your last.fm or Songkick username to your account. Then just tick the box which says "show links and events on my profile". This is in the Profile tab on the Settings page.
If you don't have a last.fm or Songkick account you can add events to your profile by going to the Events page and searching for your event. Then in the box click "I'm attending" to add it to your profile.
Why can people see when I've viewed their profile?
The first thing to remember is that a profile view is only ever recorded the first time you view another users profile. Showing profile views helps you discover new people on the site who have come across your profile that you might not have found otherwise. Also, you only see those views of people who match the criteria of what you're looking for, e.g. gender, age range.
You can also hide your profile views from other users by going into Incognito Mode
What is Incognito Mode?
Incognito Mode allows you to hide your online status and your profile views from other users. You won't be listed as being online or in the list of online users and when you view another users profile we won't notify them about it. Find out how to enable it.
