...That quite a lot of attractive young women on this site seem to be PR people/reps for festivals etc trying to flog their wares? Perhaps I'm just being cynical but I swear a lot of what people write about themselves rings kinda hollow, as if it's generic copy. Has anyone else spotted this or am I just being silly?

I haven't notied that, but what I have noticed is that a lot of the younger girls on here are hipsters, which in my opinion, is just as bad. :)

Hipsters everywhere. Everyone seems to like Bon Iver and Tokyo Police Club, also.

I disagree with this entirely. What I see is that a lot of attractive people don't have to fill out their bio with more interesting content since they already fill the gap with their looks. Contrivances are rarely anything worth considering, it's always the last thing to think about since they're so unlikely.

This is such a man topic. Not come across any floggers yet but there are loads of hipsters. Fit hipsters too, sometimes.

I am probably showing my age now, but I didn't know what a "hipster" was! So I Googled it and found this quote on Wikipedia:

"Hipsters are the friends who sneer when you cop to liking Coldplay. They're the people who wear t-shirts silk-screened with quotes from movies you've never heard of and the only ones in America who still think Pabst Blue Ribbon is a good beer. They sport cowboy hats and berets and think Kanye West stole their sunglasses. Everything about them is exactingly constructed to give off the vibe that they just don't care."
— Time, July 2009

Says it all really, doesn't it?! And it does seem to be quite an accurate description of a few people on here! lol. :-)

P.S. I'm not sure if quoting from Wikipedia is allowed on here....apologies if not!

Hipsters = Mad when you call them hipsters.

Seriously, walk down the street and yell out, "Hey Hipster!"
If they turn around, they'll get really pissed about acknowledging they are, in fact, a hipster.

Oh the lulz.

it's funny how they try hard to be different, but end up being all the same.

I'm sorry but you do NOT know if someone is a hipster just based on what music they listen to, that is ridiculous. Until you meet them in person, see how they act, what they wear, where they shop, and whether all of their behavior has to be edgy, underrated, and weird etc. you're just being illogical and assuming too much. Moreover, the word "hipster" is way too overused and misused and has transformed to describe anything seemingly unappealing and "different" than the mudslinger's conventional ways - thus meaningless.

:) c'mon - you know listening to Bon Iver doesn't make you a hipster ;) He won a grammy and most people know who he is - hipsters are the ones who no longer listen to him because of that and the ones making it clear to everyone that they listened to him way before ANYONE knew about him.

I think the reason I'm a little sore about it is because I have some hipster friends, and they can be good, cool people if you give them a chance. Not to mention not enjoying their company and criticizing them is being elitist and thus hypocritical, because isn't that what "hipsters" do?

Anyway as to the original question, I haven't noticed this yet but I'm not surprised it is happening.

Let us write a book that challenges our perceptions. I have the name for the title: "In defence of hipsters".

I don't have anything against Bon Iver; it's just that it seems everyone likes them and I'm not sure when it happened... wasn't really saying it was a hipster thing; more another observation to add to the previous one.
Hipster is completely over-used in the same way people bastardised 'emo' when to me hipster is really the style of dress and attitude. There's a lot of nicely dressed girls on here, really.
