Sure, you don't want to hang out with a girl who listens to rap music from Compton if you are a Country guy from Texas.
I'd say it is important, but not essential. Sometimes a person's music tastes can give indications to their outlook on life and views, but not always.
Meh to a certain degree! it wouldnt be a make or break for me. But I'm very open to listening to different genres sooo.
I think that having a similar core (a few real favorites in common) but it is stimulating to broaden you music taste bu being exposed to new music not to distant to that common core. Am I making sense?
It is only relevant in the beginning of a relationship, hopefully you will discover new things together in time.
I don't think it is important... having too similar taste at times can be frustrating too..because the songs you love can be played, well, too much.
As long as some common likes.
It can help. For example, if someone is really into country music, it is highly likely that they are not going to be a match for me because of the styles of dress, places of interest, and values that tend to be common in country music, which is quite different in the culture of the music I like, electronic dance music. But someone can have the same music tastes as me and still have quite different important life values.
It'd be great if my partner had the same music tastes but I don't think it's the end of the world. To be fair though, I'd want to be with someone who has an eclectic taste in music. Someone who likes good music and cheesy music! :D
I think it would be a bonus but not essential, it would be good to have at least a few bands you both liked.
