Goatwhore - Constricting Rage of the Merciless
Thantifaxath - Sacred White Noise
Atriarch - An Unending Pathway
Sigiriya - Darkness Died Today
Melvins/Butthole Surfers - Hold It In
revision: i have now heard the new Earth album. it is incredible. a 'like the old days' level of incredible. guest vocals by Mark Lanegan on two of the tracks doesn't hurt either.
possible album of 2014 for me.
got to get on listening to those other two mentioned albums, as well as new Electric Wizard, Sunn O))) and Shellac..
Shit, well it died!
Hmm...nah, no elitism in this thread, although anyone and everyone can slag anything off!
I'd heard about the new Pink Floyd...Dad's everyone will be rejoicing.
I like the sound of Phobocosm, I'll check them. Cheers!
Esoteric warfare was pretty decent, but still not that amazing to me. Love Attila's vocals though.
What about this?
Hey, KnowMad if you don't mind I'd request you to keep it as a metal-only or semi-obscure rock only thread because I don't want any Shitknot, Nickelcrap or Stinkin Fart fan spamming this thread full of awesome albums. ;)
Top 5 so far (not in order):
*Blood Farmers - Headless Eyes (Triumphant comeback by the kvlt NY doomsters)
*Cross Vault - Spectres of Revocable Loss (Great debut by these German traditional doomsters. Very gloomy and introspective.)
*Phobocosm - Deprived (Remarkable debut by these unorthodox Canadian death metallers. Can be compared to Immolation and Incantation but these guys remain very original throughout with tastefully incorporated ambient and mid-paced doomy passages)
*Pallbearer - Foundations of Burden (Cool hipster doom! Haha)
*Eyehategod - self-titled (Yea, it's EHG delivering catchy New Orleans heavy blues-punk or sludge metal call it whatever you want. It's as good as ever.)
Hon. mentions:
Mournful Congregation - Concrescence of the Sophia
Cauldron Black Ram - Stalagmire
Coffinworm - IV.I.VIII
Swallowed - Lunarterial
Triptykon - Melana Chasmata
Horrendous - Ecdysis
Teitanblood - Death
Miasmal - Cursed Redeemer
Blut Aus Nord - Memoria Vetusta III: Saturnian Poetry
Orange Goblin - Back from the Abyss
KYPCK - Imena Na Stene
I heard the new Godflesh the other day. It's moderately decent. A bit stale tbqh. I'd give it a 6.5/10. Haven't heard the new Swans yet. I know it would be great since Gira n co. never disappoint. Also yet to listen the new Electric Wizard, the Melvins-Butthole Surfers collab album, Abigor (I haven't heard anything after 'Channeling the Quintessence of Satan' but I'm hearing good things about their new album) and YOB.
i don't keep a list anymore, so i forget most and often. here are some of the notable ones that i can remember:
Boris - Noise
Tori Amos - Unrepentant Geraldines
Wolves in the Throne Room - Celestite
Agalloch - The Serpent & the Sphere
Jack White - Lazaretto
Corrosion of Conformity - IX
Eyehategod - s/t
Crowbar - Symmetry in Black
Triptykon - Melana Chasmata
Mayhem - Esoteric Warfare
i haven't heard the new Earth, Blut aus Nord or Melvins albums yet, but they will probably be joining the list.
listened to the Godflesh EP and was pretty let down with it. kinda boring. i want to think that the album will be better..
