About 香奈
MOON-香奈-kana- (formelly known as 香奈) was born 26 January, 1982 in Hokkaido, Japan. Kana is a toy designer, illustrator and a fashion designer. She began her career as a model for The Gothic And Lolita Bible magazine, and still appears in the magazine regularly. In 2000, she ventured into music by releasing the Maxi single, "Hebi-Ichigo". Although her vocal work is often criticized for its harsh, screechy tone, her songs were well-received and more singles such as "Chimame" and "Kuuchuu Buranko" followed. Kana eventually released her first full-fledged album, "Doubutsu-teki Ningen" in 2001, followed by "Kikei-teki Ningen" in 2002, then "Ningen-teki Ningen" in 2003 and "Spade" in 2005. Her latest album, "Tsuki no Usagi," was released on the 25th June 2007. Kana's vocals are often the subject of severe criticism. There's almost always no middle ground when it comes to its preference -- you either love it or hate it. Kana uses two distinctive types of vocals in her songs; the first is a harsh, screechy type that can be heard on singles such as "Chimame" and "Hebi-Ichigo," while the second is of the cutesy, high-pitched variety found in songs such as "Mori," "Jueki" and "Momo". Interestingly enough, her speaking voice seems to resemble more of the latter than the former. There are debates as to whether or not Kana can be categorized as Visual Kei. Although one of her strongest attributes is her sense of fashion, she does not follow the traditional look of Visual Kei artists -- no heavy make-up, crossdressing, nor facial piercings. It is up to the listener to decide whether Kana is a Visual Kei artist or not.
