About 언니네 이발관
Korean Indie Band 언니네 이발관 was founded in October 1994 in Seoul, South Korea an internet cafe by Lee Suk-Won (이석원) who only had decided on the name (engl.: "Sister's Barbershop') at this point. Soon, after gathering the new group members the band started their first public apperances. [...] While being a simple gathered rock group, their characteristics are melancholy lyrics and clean, neat instrumentation. Their 1st and 2nd albums initially failed to gain traction among critics and audiences at the time of their release, resulting in the bandmates going their separate ways (so far as Lee becoming a salaryman). Latent interest in and highlighting of the two albums in certain musical circles prompted the proposal of a 3rd album. In 2001, with new members in tow, they started work on the 3rd album and released it the following year, November 2002 -- "꿈의 팝송 (Pop Song of my Dreams)" became the most successful Indie record of Korean music history. The band held its first-ever official concert in the next month. After another long hiatus and repeated delays, the 5th and latest album 가장 보통의 존재 (The Most Ordinary Existence) arrived almost 5 years later in 2008 with a noticeably more restrained, spare sound and bittersweet subject matter than any of their previous albums. In 2009's 6th Annual Korean Popular Music Awards, the album won in the categories of Album of the Year, Best Modern Rock Album, and Best Song. According to the band's official website, Lee notes that the 5th album 가장 보통의 존재 "came into conception when some life event awoke in me a sudden, shocking realization that I was not a special person" and that it is intended to be listened to in track order, the album's concept being as if reading a book from beginning to end. 1998 - 비둘기는 하늘의 쥐 (Pigeons are Rats of the Sky) 1999 - 후일담 (Aftertalk *roughly equates to the Western phrase talking "behind the scenes") 2002 - 꿈의 팝송 (Pop Song of My Dreams) 2004 - 순간을 믿어요 (Believe in the Moment) 2008 - 가장 보통의 존재 (The Most Ordinary Existence) Official site: http://www.shakeyourbodymoveyourbody.com
