He is best known for his lead roles in the dramas My Name is Kim Sam Soon (2005) and The Snow Queen (2006). Hyun is also popular for being the face of Korean male cosmetic company SOMANG (소망), formerly held by Kim Jaewon. Additionally, he promotes the cosmetic line for Man With Flowers (꽃을든 남자). From November 2009 to March 2010, Hyun filmed with Tang Wei in Late Autumn (2010). It is a remake of a 1966 Japanese film with the same name, directed by Kim Tae-Yong.
