Meet people through music
Alpha is a name of at least two artists: [1] A Bristol, UK trip-hop / electronica band. [2] A André Szigethy pseudonym, the German psytrance artist. [1] A Bristol, UK trip-hop / electronica band, founded in 1996. Members include: Corin Dingley, Helen White, Wendy Stubbs, Hannah Collins and Duncan Attwood. Their latest, twelfth, album is "Alpha.Blueneck" (2013, Don't Touch). "Alpha.Blueneck" again features Attwood's ethereal voice, as on "Eleventh Trip" (Jan 2012, Don't Touch). Having produced Blueneck's first two albums ("Scars Of The Midwest" and "The Fallen Host"), Dingley knows much of their work intimately and turned each track on its head, to transform into something quite different. This new recording is a blinded approach to remixes of songs from their first three long players. The mix of Attwood's distinctive dark and reflective vocals, re-imagined with Alpha's electronic haze, makes this a distinctive and strangely wonderful piece of art. Alpha débuted with the album "Come From Heaven" (Sept 1997, Melankolic - Massive Attack's label), contributing to expand the famous 'trip-hop' sound. Sixteen years later, Dingley's project continues to push boundaries of electronic music, cloudy pop, hazy dub and dreamlike post-rock. From "Stargazing" (May 2003, Don't Touch) to "Eleventh Trip", through the ethereal instrumentals of "Lost In A Garden Of Clouds Part 1" / "...Part 2" (2004 / Jan 2006, both Don't Touch), the melancholic romances of "The Sky Is Mine" (Sept 2007, Don't Touch) and, collaborating with legendary Jamaican vocalist Horace Andy, the sharp reggae-dub confrontations of "Two phazed people" (Aug 2009, Don't Touch) - Alpha continues to evolve and remain engaging. Former members include: Andy Jenks and Peter Wild. Sites: Discogs, MusicBrainz, Wikipedia, Facebook and http://AlphaHeaven.com (official).
