About Amalthea
There are at least two band with name "Amalthea" 1) The real start of Amalthea was in the year 2004, although the members had been playing together in various constellations years before that. The vocalist and guitarist Per Skytt, bass-player Jeremias Valsten and drummer Erik Skytt played in a post-hardcore band which ended up recruiting vocalist and guitarist Simon Mellergårdh in 2003. 2005 the first 7" was released by Amalthea as a new four-piece group and it was heavily influenced by 90s screamo and post-rock. During the following years Amalthea toured europe and released an album(Decision should be a desert, bright and clear [2007]) alongside several split-records and appeared on various compilations. 2011 "The World Ends With You"-EP was released on Moment of Collapse Records and the sound was quite different than before, leaning even more towards post-rock and replacing the screamo-parts with a heavier post-metal sound. Since 2004 the members have stayed the same, but the music had progressed further from the screamo roots with every new release up until the reinvention of the bands sound in 2011. 2013 Amalthea made that profound change even more tangible and the inspiration consisted of completely new influences which resulted in the recording of a second album. Their sophomore effort "In The Woods" will be released on 31st of January 2014.
