Meet people through music
Amelia Lily Oliver (born October 16, 1994 in Middlesbrough) is a British singer and best known for her appearance in Britains biggest talent show, "The X Factor". Lily auditioned for the 2011 edition and went on to reach the grand finale where she placed third behind Marcus Collins and eventual winner, Little Mix. The You Bring Me Joy Songfacts reports that Amelia signed a 3-album record deal with Sony subsidiary Xenomania and released You Bring Me Joy as her debut single on August 26, 2012 in the UK. Her debut album, Be a Fighter, was released on April 29, 2013. During her time on X Factor, Lily performed numerous covers ranging from the Chris Cornell inspired Billie Jean (Live) (originally made famous by Michael Jackson) to the Queen classic The Show Must Go On (Live), usually receiving positive reviews from the judges. While she was the first girl to be eliminated from the live shows, Lily's popularity allowed her to be voted back into the competition. This interesting X Factor journey propelled Lily into the public conscious, even though she did not win the competition. After Lily embarked on the X Factor Tour, it was announced that she had signed a £500,000 three-album record deal. In August 2012, she reveled that her debut album would feature an eclectic range of genres; "There's a bit of dubstep on there as well which I think will surprise people! The sound is all over the place but I think the record works because we've only included songs that I really connected with." In September 2012, she released her debut single, You Bring Me Joy, which reached number one on iTunes following its release, holding the top spot for 4 days and selling over 50,000 copies on its first week. Lily's second single, Shut Up (and Give Me Whatever You Got) was officially released in January 2013, peaking at number 9 on the mid-week charts and number 11 on the UK Singles Chart. The next month, she was announced to be the supporting act for Girls Aloud's arena tour, Ten: The Hits Tour, which she will participated in from February to March of that year. April 2013 saw the release of both the album Be a Fighter itself, as well as it's third single Party Over. Keep up to date with Amelia via her website www.amelialily.com/home
