About Cull
There are at least three artists/bands going by the name Cull: 1) Cull are a dreampop/psych/shoegaze band from Sydney, Australia. Formed in 2012, the group released their first track Good People Disappear to positive reviews from national and international sources. Described by IndieShuffle as "a less verbose Of Montreal had a twisted, animalistic romp with Tame Impala and then had a threesome with Animal Collective", Cull are shoegaze without the shoes and more fun on weekends. 2) [NOW DEFUNCT] Cull is a noise/power electronics project formed in 2003. Over the years Cull has had tracks released on compilations and collaborated with other noise acts such as Death Pact International. Cull's music focuses on themes relating to anti-civilisation anarchy, anarcho-primitivism, animal liberation, and related areas. Cull has been interviewed for zines including xWarboundx 3) [NOW DEFUNCT] A doom metal band from Portland, Oregon. In the spring of 2007, we arose to bring the ethics of riot grrrl and anarchism to the Portland metal scene. Born of longstanding friendships and prior music projects, Cull first came together when Dylan, Melissa, and Jacqui joined forces and started writing. Once songs began to take form, Dylan enlisted his younger brother, Ansel - not only filling out our sound, but also solidifying the close-knit, family-like dynamic of the band. Having discarded the macho posturing typically associated with metal, we work to actively create community and space for women in heavy music.
