About Diva Gash
Diva Gash, conceived in Bogota, is one of the most important and independent Rock bands in Colombia. A particular blend of classic genres from the 70's and 80's such as; Funk, Disco, Punk and Retro Rock, among Electronic beats, Metal riffs and Hip-Hop rhymes, make them shine as pioneers of the Latin American avant-garde musical movement. Their refined look and a strong live show may well amuse people of all ages, and all backgrounds. Born in 1997 with the objective of creating a project that would distinguish from all musical contexts developed in Colombia and with a clear intention of building a cosmopolitan sound; DG released 2 EPs (1998-99) and a debut album called Sequence (2000), mastered by Tweety Gonzalez (keyboard player from well known Argentinean band Soda Stereo), achieving extraordinary reviews in all local press. After 2 Tours in Mexico and a significant tour in Venezuela, DG released second album Vol. 1 (2005), which was recorded between Miami, Bogota, Caracas and Monterrey, and produced by member of renowned Mexican band Plastilina Mosh "Alejandro Rosso". This release opens doors of acceptance in Colombian "mainstream", and single 'Starmaster' becomes a song of worship among Dance Music fans. Its video clip participated in a considerable amount of airplay in Colombian and international video Channels such as MTV, MTVtres, Telehit, SONY Entertainment TV, Canal I, PUMA TV, Much Music and VH1 among others. Reviews in major publications such as Rolling Stone, The Daily Journal (Latin America), La Dosis, Letras, Urbe, El Nacional, El Universal, De Mente, Metropolis (Venezuela) URB, Colusa, rumbamiami.com, La Banda Elastica, Automático, hispanicprwire.com, Spin Earth, Audiomuffin, vodpod.com , Linsaylovesme.com, 123people.com, jambase.com (USA), Shock, Cromos, Jet Set, Soho, Cartel Urbano, TV y Novelas, Zoom, Trendy (Colombia), Gato Pardo, Glamour, Twist (Mexico), Zona de Obras, Le Cool Magazine (Spain) dj716.blogspot.com (France)and TV channels such as Sony Entertainment TV, E!, AXN, HBO, Animax and VH1, confirm their constant endeavor. DG has received 2 Shock Magazine awards and 2 Subterranica Radio Awards (Colombia) for Best Rock / Electronic act and has performed in renowned festivals like Festival de Musica Joven (Venezuela), Festival de Teatro, Rock al Parque, Nem-Catacoa, FALM (Colombia) SAMC (Argentina), Winter Music Conference, South by Southwest, Miami Short Film Festival & Miami Rock (USA) as well as Marne Festi-Val (France) Sound de la Cuadra (Germany), among others. In July 2009 DG released third album 2. Lov, featuring Julio Briceño (Los Amigos Invisibles) as co producer in single "Korean Ho." The rest of the album's production, recording and mixing were in the hands of Joel Hamilton (who has worked with artists such as: Matisyahu, Dub Trio, Elvis Costello, Justin Timberlake, Black Keys, Sean Lennon, Lou Reed, etc.) This is the album that consolidates their actual sound as well as their independent but thriving career. In 2010, Sony Entertainment TV (one of most important cable channels in Latin America) chose DG to compose and produce their 15th anniversary's promotional theme song, filming the process of the recording as well as the process of making their video clip for single "Masters of Love" (which are promoting at the moment). This material turned into a 30 minutes program, which aired in Prime Time for 8 weeks in a row by the name of SONIDOS. Artists like Coldplay and The Killers have been featured in these series. At the present DG is working on their 4th album. In the mean time, is still in the process of promoting album 2 Lov, and will be touring: Venezuela, United States, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Mexico, Ecuador, Bolivia, Australia and New Zealand in the near future.
