About Elizabeth Parker
Elizabeth Parker is a British composer and musician, chiefly known for her soundtrack work, including the theme music for several well-known television series. She was the last musician to work at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop before it closed. She is a classically trained musician playing both piano and cello. After her music degree at the University of East Anglia she took a Masters in electronic music. She trained at the BBC as a studio manager, and then joined the BBC's Radiophonic Workshop where she worked for 18 years until the BBC shut it down. Her work on The Living Planet illustrated the early use of unlikely sound sources for the score, something covered by BBC Television and Miles Kington at the time. She is best known for providing special sound for the BBC science fiction series Blake's 7, taking over from Richard Yeoman-Clark from Season 2 onwards. She also provided the incidental score for the 1985 Doctor Who story Timelash under the name Liz Parker. Parts of this score are featured on the Doctor Who: 30 Years at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop compilation. An LP of her score for the television series The Living Planet was released in 1984.
