About Fermin IV
Perhaps there is no other name more important across Latin America when it comes to Spanish Hip Hop than Fermin IV. His powerful voice exploded and caught the world off gard back in 1997 with the over night success of Control Machete's "Compredes Mendes" taking Spanish Hip Hop to a level the world was yet not ready for. Not only would Fermin IV play a key role in shaping today's Spanish speaking Urban Market by defining its direction, but took the pride of his culture and flag on tours across Europe, Latin America and the US, where I was lucky enough to meet him in San Jose, California about 8 years ago. Fermin recorded two albums with Control Machete selling over a half of millions copies, had traveled the world and interacted with different people and cultures, soon making Control Machete a five year old group, making it time for the group members to take a break to catch back up with family and friends. Back in Monterrey Fermin along with close friends and members of the groups La Flor De Lingo and Los Bastardoz were mastermindimg the nextproject, a super Hip Hop group which would carry the name of their crew "Artilleria Pesada". Fermin IV would be along side the project for the first few demo songs, but this project would never see the light, Fermin would call it quits as his life was under going changes. For one he had married and moved to El D.F.and was discovering a new calling. Fermin IV had found a new meaning to life with in his interpersonal faith in God. Fermin would eventually break away from Control Machete releasing a solo project called Boomerang, featuring by production from long time producer and partner in crime Jason Roberts (Control Machete, Cypress Hill) and Sacha Triujeque (Sones Del Mexside) along with some of his own production work among others. We got the chance to interview Fermin IV and see what he has been up to since his album and see what he has planned for the near future.
