About Forme
There are at least three acts called Forme: 1) Richard File (aka: Forme) is also known as DJ Aura and Neon One who has previously worked with the Mo' Wax record label and remixed many big artists such as Queens Of The Stone Age, DJ Shadow and Depeche Mode, amongst others. Richard has also provided vocals on the UNKLE album War Stories with James Lavelle who he has recently departed from to start his own band called We Fell To Earth. As well as having the unenviable job of filling DJ Shadow's shoes in the UNKLE setup, Rich File also records as Forme for Marine Parade. With his distinctive raw tribal sound he has already established himself as one of the most talented and unique producers in breakbeat today. Kick a Hole and Percussive Thinking have been among the most popular releases of the Marine Parade record label. 2) A Canadian Instrumental progressive metal that released an EP entitled "Neotany" in 2010. Forme began in summer 2002 as an acoustic project between guitarist Tom Daigle and guitarist Andy Kerr. Their sound was to be sculpted against the stream, constantly redefining their limits, and pushing for the evolution of modern music. It was quickly decided a further lineup would be needed to fully express what they were creating. The quartet was completed by Summer 2004 as bassist Tony Zavaglia and drummer Noah Hassan joined, bringing their innovative musicianship to the instrumental project and raising the creative bar even higher. Forme played its much anticipated debut show in February 2006 to a sold out crowd in Montreal, which was quickly proceeded by the release of their first 4 track ep, Flux in May 2006, quickly leaving listeners wanting more. Flux generated local and international acclaim through fan support, various radio stations and webzines. The band incorporated a plethora of stimulating visual projections, created by Albert Zablit and Christine Roy, to their live performance for the first time at Moshcore February 2007, to a packed Club Soda. The crowd was left with eyes wide open and jaws hanging as it was immersed in a sea of blue light emanating from galactic 3d graphics to geometrical animations. Simultaneously, spectators rushed to the front of the stage captivated by the charismatic energy exuding from the musicians. One fan stated, "it was like I was thrust into my psyche and was making sense of things I've thought about but never put into concrete terms". Forme was scheduled to record and release its first full length album for 2008 and to start branching out with shows across Canada. Instead, the band went through hardship, forcing it to disappear from the music scene for a few years. Drummer Noah Hassan parted ways with Forme late 2007. Guitarist Andy Kerr was unable to play guitar between summer 2008 and summer 2009 after developing what many musicians fear most - tendinitis. Both guitarist and bassist Tom Daigle and Tony Zavaglia underwent injury impeding their ability to play as well. Several drummers went in and out of the band, none being the right addition to the cube. To put it bluntly, it looked pretty grim. In Summer 2010 Massimo drummer DiQuinzio joined Forme, marking a new beginning, bringing new breath, patience and creativity. The new sound has been evolving in a very exciting way since. With the support of friends and fans, Forme continues to persevere, held together by the simple desire to create music that takes the band and its listeners on an intensely interpretive, personal ride. What always seems to result is a will to come back together, knowing no other project can offer what Forme offers. Listeners can expect honest, unique instrumental compositions, fusing acoustic and electronic elements to voice Forme's creative spirit. Currently Forme is writing and rehearsing new material with plans of returning to the Montreal scene for 2011, and scheduling the release of Neoteny, songs recorded during the band's time away from the 3) Is a house side project by Swedish drum & bass producer Sebastian Ahrenberg aka Seba, released two records and a couple of exclusive tracks on Swedish label SVEK.
