Meet people through music
The Futuristic Sex Robotz are a self-described 'Gangster Nerd Rap' group, but their music can be classified in the larger genre of nerd rap or nerdcore. The group comes from the Puget Sound region of Washington, where many of the members attended high school together. The concept was first conceived of in 2004 by members Coaxke and PC Speaker, while under the influence of Keystone Ice. Their first single, "Welcome to the Internet" was released to critical acclaim shortly after. A number of other singles followed, including one centered around the video game Halo 2, which included a video that was downloaded over 500,000 times. On February 21, 2006, the Futuristic Sex Robotz released "Hotel Coral Essex", their full length debut. The entire album was offered in DRM free .mp3 format at no charge. Demonstrating a much broader range of styles than the previous singles, the album became quite popular in some internet communities. Popular culture references include the movies Back to the Future and Hackers (film), filesharing applications such as Hotline Connect, Star Trek, internet porn, and livejournals. Their website http://www.futuristicsexrobotz.com/ has been down for a while, and the band has faded into obscurity, but you can still find copies of the album floating around on BitTorrent trackers. Also a fan has re-uploaded the collection to the similar website http://futuristicsexrobotz.net/.
