About Ganga
Christian made his debut as GANGA in 2005, releasing I Dream About Trees on influential danish label Music For Dreams, known for an eclectic roster of artists (including Aura, Kenneth Bager, Bliss, Banzai Republic, Hess Is More, Djosos Krost and Lulu Rouge) and compilation series including Luftkastellet and Dub Pastry. In 2007, he launched his own Flinc Music label and in the years to follow released four beautiful albums: Don't Wake Me Up (2007), More Light Please (2009), Gaia (2010) and now Forget Gravity(2011) Increasingly in-demand as a DJ, composer, producer and live performer, Gangas genre-defying downtempo DJ sets have brought him as far as Buddha Bar in Dubai, Guru Bar and Aqua Bar in Cypres as well as several Ibizan hotspots including the legendary Café Del Mar. And obviously he plays out regularly at home in Copenhagen, where he's frequently to be found seducing discerning club-goers. As a composer and live performer, GANGA has collaborated with some of the most influential Danish performers (Hanne Boel, Peter Peter) and appeared several times at Roskilde in Denmark - a highlight on anyone international festival calendar, providing live, original soundtracks for - amongst others - Fritz Lang's silent sci-fi classic Metropolis and Sergei Eisenstein's Battleship Potemkin. The new music for Potemkin was composed in collaboration with Peter Peter (ex. Sort Sol) and has just been released on DVD. Gangas fifth album "Forget Gravity" underlines that blend of ethnic flavours, dubby bass grooves, balearic guitars, evocative vocals, asian infused strings and crispy electronica - that over the years has become Gangas trademark. Since the debut on Music For Dreams in 2004, Gangas chilled mark on the global map of electronic downtempo and midtempo has continued to grow, and today Gangas tracks are featured on more than 100 compilation CDs and DVDs worldwide. The india flavoured "Clouds" has already been picked by DJ Ravin for Buddha Bar 13, and several tracks from Forget Gravityis already compiled for downtempo compilations around the globe. As is normal for a Ganga album, "Forget Gravity" features brilliant vocal and musical perfromances from far corners of the world. Anwar Ahmed Khan and his brother Naushad Hussain Khan, both from India, performs on "Clouds" together with old time Ganga collaborator Helle Chirholm, and Annemarie Zimakoff performs on the two very delicate and evocative cinematic slowburners "Secrets" and "Are You Hiding". The slow grooving "Yellow Leaves" also brings us brilliant guitar performances by another oldtime Ganga companion, Steen Kyed (The Great Danes). In generel the album is very vocally oriented, and a very chilled experience with focus on well produced beats, asian infused vocals, balearic guitars and dubby bass sounds. Lean back and enjoy the blissfull journey. Gangas touring brings him to the far corners of this world to perform his music, either live or with his eclectic DJ set or a combination of both.
