About Goretex
Goretex (Mitchell Manzanilla) is an underground hip-hop artist, born in Long Beach, New York. He is credited along with Ill Bill as pioneering the New York underground hip-hop movement in 1992/1993. Originally a member of Non Phixion along with Ill Bill, Sabac Red and DJ Eclipse, the group achieved massive underground success and acclaim for their debut album, "The Future Is Now", released in 2002 on Uncle Howie Records. Produced by DJ Premier, Large Professor and Pete Rock this release has defined what an all around classic Hip Hop album should consist of. Non Phixion's influence can be felt across the world, reaching fans and artists alike as one of the most loved and highly respected rap groups ever. Non Phixion were also the first real Hip Hop group to incorporate heavier metal elements in their music without draining their powerful edge, with appearances by Fear Factory and Deftones on their debut. Following on from this success, the group members all released solo albums. Goretex's debut album "The Art Of Dying" was released in 2004 to a wide praise of cult status and what some say, one of the most disturbing and and innovative album covers ever.[2]Goretex's lyrics touch on all elements of the grisly and disturbing sides of life such as nuclear war, the occult, suicide, secret and hidden societys, black metal, highly satanic mysticism, drugs, personal experiences and an examination of the inner self. Gore pulls no punches about life itself and the sometimes graphic and sorrow filled nature of his own demons, which according to him help him work through his own tragedies so he can hopefully help others. Goretex was also in a rap group with Necro and Ill Bill, which was called the Circle of Tyrants, after Goretex's longtime association and fascination with death and black metal and being named as a tribute to black occult metal band Celtic Frost. Although only one album was released, the frenzy created after this cd and his solo album, led Goretex to working with such black metal luminaries such as Fenriz from cult gods Darkthrone, and a side project yet to be unleashed with Butcher from Mayhem. Its fairly obvious from his work, Goretex is far from your average rapper from New York and seen with his steadily growing cult-like following that Gore has left his mark on music forever. Goretex has since stated that he is in the studio and currently working on a new mixtape and brand new solo album supposedly to be released in September of 2008 and March 2009, respectively. No information about production has been stated as of yet. Goretex released a new track entitled "Deadicated" featuring Killa Sha and Timbo King in June of 2008 but it's not clear whether this will be on the new album.
