Meet people through music
There are at least three bands named Jerusalem: 1)Jerusalem was a British classic rock/hard rock band (also labeled as proto-Doom) active in the early '70s. It released only one album, "Jerusalem", in 1972, produced by Ian Gillan. Members: Lynden Williams: Vocals Bob Cooke: Guitar Bill Hinde: Guitar Paul Dean: Bass Ray Sparrow: Drums 2)Jerusalem is a Christian rock band, based in Sweden, that was founded around 1975 by Ulf Christiansson (Vocals, Guitar). It was one of the first bands to combine Christian lyrics with a hard rock sound. When the band first toured Sweden in the mid-1970s, their combination of Christian lyrics with a hard rock sound was very controversial and the band was only permitted to perform at a few churches. The first album, Jerusalem, was released in 1978, and saw sales of 20,000 within the first six months, at the time very high figures for European Christian Rock. The second album, Volym 2, was released in 1980. This, and the following Krigsman (1981) were recorded with the band that is still one of two alternating Jerusalem configurations, with Dan Tibell on keys, Anders Mossberg on bass, and Claes Anderhell on drums. For many fans this is the classic configuration. Many of the songs from the first 3 Albums are still frequently performed live. Jerusalem toured relentlessly, often with a very evangelistic outlook. In 1985, they decided to stop touring, and took a prolonged break. In 1992 they recorded the critically acclaimed "Prophet".Several study and live albums have been recorded since then, but many of the songs are from their earlier period , many of them previously unrecorded. In June 2009, the band is still touring, and plans have been made for a new studio album.
