About Jordie Lane

Jordie Lane is a critically acclaimed singer/songwriter who is widely regarded as a leading light of the Australia's folk and alt-country music scenes. Blending the dark romanticism of Bruce Springsteen, the country swagger of Gram Parsons and the versatility of Ryan Adams, Jordie creates music that pushes boundaries while remaining universally accessible. A dynamic live performer, Jordie's stage show centres around his story-telling and crowd interaction. In the vein of countryman Colin Hay, his performances shift from a comedy show, to folk concert, to rock n roll gig in the space of two songs. It is this rare gift that has seen him sell out numerous Australian and New Zealand tours, support major acts including The Moody Blues, Gotye, Cat Power, Neko Case, Old Crow Medicine Show, The Weakerthans and Loudon Wainwright III, and perform at major festivals including Canadian Music Week, Falls, Woodford, Port Fairy, Queenscliffe, and West Coast Blues & Roots Festival. Lane has also been a prolific recording artist over the last decade, releasing 3 independent EPs between 2002-2005, before his first national release in 2006, 'Lover's Ride' His 2009 release 'Sleeping Patterns' garnered critical acclaim, award nominations, and another level of profile amongst Australian music fans and media. The following year Jordie was also featured on Triple J's popular 'Like A Version' compilation with a cover of MGMT's 'Electric Feel'. In 2011, working alongside Grammy Award Winning Producer Tom Biller (Beck, Kanye West, Fiona Apple), Lane recorded an album on a 4-track tape machine in hotel rooms and basements around the US. 'Blood Thinner' has been another critical triumph, and it received a coveted nomination for 'Best Blues & Roots Album' at the 2011 Australian Indepedent Music Awards'. In 2012/13, Jordie Lane will continue to tour internationally through North America, Europe, Australia and Asia, while working with Producer Tom BIller on his third solo album, due March 2013.
