Meet people through music
Julia Nunes (pronounced NOONZ) is a native of upstate New York. She is a talented singer-songwriter, guitarist, and ukulele player. The Stay Awake Songfacts says that Nunes started writing songs at the age of 13 when she was in a Ska band. Nunes opened four times for one of her idols, Ben Folds, in May 2008 at the piano player's request after she posted one of her covers of his songs on the net. Her talent is just now reaching the public due to exposure on websites such as YouTube.com and MySpace.com. Her first album, "Left Right Wrong," is being sold in the US and Europe, and elsewhere around the world. Her second album, "I Wrote These," is available now. She made her television debut on January 24, 2012 performing"Stay Awake" on Conan. Her albums consist of all original work; however, she does perform quite a few covers on YouTube. Julia's CDs as well as t-shirts can be ordered at http://junumusic.com. Julia was recently featured on YouTube's homepage. Her video performance of "Into The Sunshine" has nearly one million views and continues to grow. Before the video was featured on YouTube, Nunes was the winner of the Bushman World Ukulele Contest. Bushman is the world's leading performance ukulele, and her winning tugged her into the music world. Her entry was a cover of Destiny's Child's "Survivor."
