Karolina Gočeva (in Macedonian: Каролина Гочева, born April 28, 1980, Bitola) is currently one of the leading Macedonian singers, as she represented twice Macedonia in the Eurovision Song Contest. She started since the age of 11, while performing in children's festivals in Bitola and Štip, "Makfest 1991". She became a regular participant in SkopjeFest, white the following entries. *1994: "Koj da ti kaže" *1996: "Ma, ajde kaži mi" *1998: "Ukradeni noќi", ended 4th. *2000: "Za nas", ended 2nd. In 2000, Karolina joined the record label, Avalon Productions, who helped her release her debut album "Jas imam pesna". The released singles included "Sakaj me", "Bez ogled na se" and "Nemir", the latter of which she sang in a duet with Toše Proeski. Her second album, "Zošto sonot ima kraj" came in 2002. Karolina released "Ti mozes" and "Ke bide se vo red" as singles in Macedonia. Karolina gained more popularity in former Yugoslavia, by performing at Sunčane Skale festival with the song "Jamajka", held in Herceg Novi, Montenegro. Karolina won the Skopje Eurosong 2002 with "Od nas zavisi" ("It Depends on Us"), in order to represent Macedonia in Eurivision Song Contest 2002, in Tallin, Estonia. After having some controversy about the language choosen for the song, on stage, she performed the song in Macedonian. She ended up in 19th place of the voting. On March 2003 she released her third album "Znaeš kolku vredam". This time she released videoclips for "Hipokrit", "Ljubov pod oblacite", and "Srescemo se opet". Karolina went into the studios and recorded all of her songs from her third album in the Serbian language, as her CD's were also released in Serbia and Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Slovenia. In 2005, Karolina participated once again at Herceg Novi in the Sunčane Skale festival. Her song "Ruza Ruzica" became an instant hit placing her 4th in the festival. Karolina also released her new song "Se lazam sebe", which was written by the diva of Macedonian pop music, Kaliopi. At the end of 2005, she released the album "Vo zaborav", as well as the Serbian and Croatian version, "U zaboravu". Karolina's music videos rotated on MTV Adria. Shortly before going on summer break, Karolina released the songs "Umiram bez tebe" and in a duet with Aki Rahimovski, "Bela Pesna". In 2007, Karolina participated and won again the SkopjeFest, this time with the song "Mojot Svet" ("My world"). The song, written by Grigor Koprov and composed by Ognen Nedelkovski, had a quite unusual rhytme, as it was in 7-4 timing. At the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 Karolina performed the song in Macedonian and English. First, in the semifinal, it received 97 points, placing 9th in a field of 28 and qualifying Macedonia for the final. There, at the close of voting, it received 73 points, placing 14th in a field of 24. The result represented the fourth consecutive occasion that Macedonia had qualified for the final. She won the award for the best composition at the Radijski festival with the song "Kad te nema", and finished on 2nd place. In June 2008, Gočeva released her fifth album, named "Makedonsko devojče". All songs are under the influence of the local traditional music and the first single "Ptico malečka" became a huge hit in Macedonia. "Makedonsko devojče" is the best selling album in Macedonia for 2008, and was also released in other countries of the region. In 2010, she released a pop, hip-hop album called "Kapka pod neboto", in collaboration with the famous Serbian R&B star Wikluh Sky. Her singles "Kraj" and "Za Godina, Dve" were at the top of many charts in Macedonia as well as in the other former Yugoslav republics.
