About Lisabi
Lisabi is a septet from Barão Geraldo, Brazil, consisting of André Cardoso (bass, vocals), Matheus Fattori (guitars), Gabriel Slenes (trumpet, keys, vocals), Max Maiken (tenor sax), Mateo Piracés (guitar, vocals), Sebastián Piracés (drums) and Juliana Strassacapa (vocals). They combine unusual song structures, frequent shifts in tempo and soft/loud dynamics to create a punk influenced mixture of ska, jazz, latin and progressive rock. Their name pays homage to Funmilayo Kuti, mother of Nigerian musician Fela Kuti. Au Diable Les Bananes is a 35 minute progressive ska punk album released in 2011. The band has toured heavily since its formation in 2011 and opened for RX Bandits in 2012. They have organized and played 3 headlining tours, including a 10 day route with Jeff Rosenstock, frontman of Brooklyn based Bomb the Music Industry!. Lisabi produces and releases all of their own music. They will be in the United States in July 2013 for a 30 date tour.
