About Motek
There are at least three bands named Motek: 1. A post-rock band from Aalst, Belgium. 2. Swiss quartet 3. A Portugese electronic musician. 1. Motek is a three-piece inspiring and instinctive post-rock band from Aalst, Belgium. Every great passion ends in the infinite... Likewise, Motek is driven by instinct and the thirst for sultry recollections of forgotten emotional states. Sticking layers of effect-laden guitars, underpinned by a needy bass and entrancing drums create the texture of great music for the best moments of your life. This sonic dream closes the gap between wishes, wants and imagination with melancholy, madness, consolation and hope. Motek is an audiovisual collective with a preference for the expressive force of music. Four daring musicians seek those moments of intensity leading to surprise and surrender. The songs sound full but leave imaginative space open for the listener. Motek loves it airy yet taut: melodies swelling from carefully interwoven guitars are firmly grounded by an inventive rhythm section. And thus Motek succeeds in creating a new and massively dynamic approach to cinematic rock. Motek works from the gut. In an organic creative process, Motek is open to everything that emerges. Sometimes images inspires the music, and sometimes music the images. And indeed, the Motek collective already has various projects behind it: from music and video art to sampling, installation, and performance (Beursschouwburg Brussel, Vooruit Gent, Buda Kortrijk, Monty Antwerpen, STUK Leuven, Depot Leuven, Netwerk Aalst, Concertgebouw Brugge, Pianofabriek Brussel, the SDSM festival in Guardia San Framondi - Italy, Boombox Gent, Pukkelpop Hasselt, Feest In Het Park Oudenaarde, De Nachten Antwerpen, Pluto-festival Opwijk, recently Motek toured Denmark, China and Brazil). http://www.motek.be 2. For years the Swiss quartet Motek (Kurt Söldi, Andresas Schmid, Alian v Ritter, Jean-Pierre) has experimented with the key elements of diverse styles, including improvisation and the dynamic of jazz, hip hop and funk grooves, and the spare sound of drum 'n bass. The album 'Urban' was released in 2007. Recently the group has worked together with DJ Little Maze succesfully pushing the band more in the direction of drum'n bass. http://www.motek.ch 3. Motek is an artist from Lisbon that addresses the most introspective and psychedelic electronics. It reveals his influences, sometimes industrial, raw and distorted synthesizers, broken rhythms and bass guidelines that make us travel into a dark universe, rude and unique. Motek transforms this universe in every sound it produces, proving that sounds like something really different. https://soundcloud.com/motek-1
