About Mother McCree's Uptown Jug Champions
Mother McCree's Uptown Jug Champions was a folk/bluegrass band made up of Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Ron "Pigpen" McKernan, Tom Stone, Dave Parker, and Michael Garbett. Jerry, Bob, and Ron broke off in '65 to form "The Warlocks," which soon became "The Grateful Dead." The only surviving recording of Mother McCree's Uptown Jug Champions is a single live performance at The Tangent in Palo Alto in 1964.
