About Philter
There are at least 2 artists under the name Philter: 1. Philter is a Norwegian electronic music project by Magnus Gangstad Jørgensen, started in 2005. Often heard in the songs are orchestral pieces mixed with soothing beats which makes up the Philter sound. Also recognizable are the melodies, often dark but always catchy. Philter has gained a large following from the Norwegian music site for unsigned artists, called Urørt. On May 2011, he released his debut album, "The Beautiful Lies". 2. Philter is a progressive trance act based in northen Germany. Having a background in sound engineering, the step to becoming a producer and live-act was a natural progression. Technical ability, experience and some studies in popular music paved the way for this promising project. Philter developed his passion for trance music while training and working at Butterfly Studio, one of the pioneering studios that played a major role in shaping trance music and the scene. 3. PhILTER were formed in late 2007 when Andreas "Del" (guitars) met by chance Mike (bass), in a filthy office of a Research Institute in Heraklion, Crete, during their PhD studies (still haven't done much!). Soon they found out that despite their different musical influences, they share the same passion for music. Having a guitar and a bass they were in search of other members. Soon after a number of rehearsals and putting aside different song covers, Kalliopi (vocals), Alice (guitars/vocals) and Sakis (drums) joined the band. PhILTER have different musical backgrounds including various fields of rock, such as new wave, post punk, garage, and indie music. Their songwriting is based on flaying personal experiences that deal mainly with the self-awareness of transience via aggressive or lyrical sounds. Apart from appearing on several shows in Crete, the band has been on stage with artists such as Puressence, Craig Walker (ex-Archive), Closer, Raining Pleasure, Film, and others. PhILTER have also been hosted and played live on TV shows. So far they have recorded two demo cd's. Their song "Tonight" is included in the compilation cd "Indie Underground Vol. 2" released in 2009 by Quickstar Productions U.S.A. PhILTER are currently recording their first album...
