About Pyro, Ohio
Pyro, Ohio combines a variety of musical influences creating a sound that is both refreshing and modern. Branching out from the Post-Hardcore genre and experimenting with non-standard time signatures and song structures, Pyro, Ohio seeks to write profound songs that hinge on the edge of progressive styling while also remaining accessible to their audience. Pyro, Ohio attempts to challenge themselves and their audience with every song they write. They feel music that doesn't test your ears does not advance the art or the genre. The band is most commonly compared to Chiodos, Circa Survive, and Glassjaw. The band was founded in rural Christiansburg, Virginia where the music scene is non-existent. They aim to break free from the small town scene and spread their fresh sound to a variety of music lovers. Their first EP "Welcome to Pyro, Ohio" was recently released on iTunes and Amazon as well as for streaming on Spotify and Reverbnation. Displaying a taste of their songwriting spectrum, "Welcome to Pyro, Ohio" delivers a musical diversity that everyone should find a piece of to enjoy. "You Don't Hold Your Breath Much, Do You?" provides a heart-tugging, upbeat entrance into the EP. The second track on the EP, "Through the Window," provides an ambient and harmonious complement to vocalist Peter Verity's haunting melody about the emotions of infatuation. Flowing seamlessly into "Monsters of Myth," Peter explores the reoccurring disagreements that tear relationships apart, while the band uses pounding rhythms and reoccurring melodies to create a foreboding atmosphere to assist Peter's message. The feedback has been great so far, and the band hopes to share the EP with new listeners on their upcoming 2012 summer tour.
