Meet people through music
There is more than one artist called Red Alert. 1) Oi! band formed in Sunderland around May of 1979. The original line up was: Steve "Cast Iron" Smith (vocals), Tony Van Frater (Guitar), Gaz Stuart (bass) and Dona (drums). Self released a four track EP entitled "Third And Final," which had been their demo, in an edition of 250 copies. This EP was re-released in the mid 90s as "Border Guards" on Combat Rock. Then recorded two tracks for the "Carry On Oi!" album. Only one, "SPG," would actually appear on the compilation though. Gary Bushell suggested they get in touch with No Future. They did, and they got a contract. Released 2 7" EPs ("In Britain" and "Take No Prisoners"), "We've Got the Power" LP, "City Invasion" single, and a 12" EP before No Future folded and the band split. Reformed in the early 90s, still around. 2) Also the original name of anarcho punk band Protest, as Red Alert they appeared on the Crass Records compilation "Bullshit Detector". 3) Also soundtracks of the games by Westwood Studios Command & Conquer: Red Alert(1996) & Red Alert 2(2000). 4) Red Alert are also an 80s style straight edge hardcore punk band from Richmond, VA. They are in the process of releasing a 3 song demo tape. Their heaviest influences include SSD, DYS, Cause for Alarm and Minor Threat. They have since changed their name to just REDALERT, to avoid confusion with the UK group. http://www.myspace.com/redalertsxe 5) Red Alert was a NWOBHM band who had a song ("Open Heart") on the Metal for Muthas volume II compilation (1980) and a single ("Run to Ground/Wild Dog") on Steel City records (1982).
