About Rusty Maples
Grown from the dry desert landscape of Las Vegas, Nevada, Rusty Maples captures the spirit of the West with its well-crafted blend of tender lyrics, classic themes and energetic, folk-inspired pop songs. Voted "Best Live Band of 2013" in the Las Vegas Weekly Readers' Choice Awards. In 2012, Rusty Maples released its second EP, Make Way, drawing comparisons to bands like The Lumineers, Mumford and Sons and The Walkmen. Taking the album's title literally, brothers Blair (vocals) and Ian Dewane (guitar), Mike Weller (bass) and Max Plenke (drums) embarked on a tenacious grassroots tour, bringing its music cross-country and garnering an organic following throughout the United States. Returning home, Rusty Maples headlined SXSW's inaugural V2V, Life is Beautiful's homegrown stage and was featured on Spike TV's Bar Rescue. The band was also chosen as an official SXSW band for 2014 and plans to release a full-length album shortly after the festival. Since Rusty Maples' inception in 2011 the band has performed with and/or opened for the following: Deerhunter, Lord Huron, CSS, STRFKR, Glass Candy, Yuksek, Health, The Chromatics, The Whigs, Veruca Salt, New York Dolls, Chain Gang of 1974. They Have also played festivals along side The Killers, Beck, Kings of Leon, Imagine Dragons, Alabama Shakes, Haim, and Dawes.
