About Serenity In Murder
~The Beginning~ Fusing intensity and lyricism in a higher level and spreading melancholic melodies like disease, SERENITY IN MURDER, the Symphonic Death Metal sensation from Japan, will set sail on a journey to take the world by storm! The youthful (average age of 21 as of 2001) sextet was formed in 2008. Being a music fan with a diverse taste from such heavy metal acts as EQUILIBRIUM, CRADLE OF FILTH or CHIMAIRA to Japanese pops like Miyuki Nakajima and Takako Okamura, Freddy
wanted to pursue something more than just composing music and showing it to his friends, and decided to form a band. He played some demos to Emi, known as a female screamer/growler within the university at that time, who liked the music and agreed to join him. The name of the band does come from the title of the SLAYER song, but the reason why Freddy picked it up for the name of the band was not just because he liked that particular song, but he also liked the impact, its sound and the very "cold" atmosphere that the words have, which did also match his vision for the band. Almost for about a year since the formation, however, they couldn't have a stable lineup with the exception of Freddy and Emi, so they spent the time mostly composing songs. Meanwhile, through his friend from childhood, Shuntaro, Freddy was introduced to a skilled guitar player from Shuntaro's university. Freddy was surprised when he met Ryuji , because Freddy had "known" him through his outstanding guitar playing videos he had made available on the internet. He showed his demos to both Ryuji and Shuntaro , both of whom liked the music and agreed to join the band. Thus, in 2009, the band was finally ready to play live although the rest of the lineup still remained unstable and they could only play about 10 gigs that year. ~Progress~ Being a self-taught piano player, Shuntaro decided to switch from the bass to keyboards, which somehow helped the band move forward. Shortly after that, Kazuki from the same university as Freddy and Emi joined the band, and with a help from Ryuji and Shuntaro's junior from their university on bass, they were finally able to secure a stable lineup. In January 2010, they appeared at the "FAR EAST RAMPAGE" (held at Club Citta'), a 2-day festival featuring such strong bills as LIGHT BRINGER, EDGE OF SPIRIT, EACH OF THE DAYS, SURVIVE, JURASSIC JADE, DIABLO (Korea), where they succeeded in leaving strong impressions among the audience. ~Begin the Recording~ After playing a numerous gigs, the band decided to enter the studio to record and release their music to the public. Under the guidance from HIRO, the guitar player of Japanese Extreme Metallers METAL SAFARI and also the producer of various bands such as DEATH I AM, NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST, and AWAKED (feat. MZM of Ex-SUNSOWL), they recorded 4 songs "RequieM" "Defenders Of The Faith" "Defamiliarization" "Infact Bellum" at his Studio Prisoner. The band took part in a compilation album "Hell Gate" with the song "Infact Bellum", and got rave reviews like, among others, "would love to hear SERENITY IN MURDER's own release" (Burrn! Sep, 2010). Meanwhile, through their friends Takumi joined the band as a permanent bass player. ~Lineup Completed~ The original idea was to release these 4 songs as an EP, but in order to make it more attractive they went back into the Studio Prisoner in October 2010, and recorded "Horn Of Ending" "The Tragedy" "The Holocaust To Dead Line" and re-recorded "RequieM". After this recording sessions, Kazuki left the band for personal reasons, and was replaced by Shohei through an audition. As a huge fan of Aquiles Priester (ex-ANGRA, HANGAR), he had also made his drumming videos available on the internet, which caught the eyes of Freddy. His skill and potential were proved when Aquiles Priester himself gave him a thumbs-up on his facebook. ~Sensational Debut~ Under this new lineup and with more chemistry among the 6 members, the band decided to record more songs to make it a full-length album. In May 2011, they entered the Studio Prisoner for the third time and recorded "The First Frisson Of The World" and "In Hell Of Heaven", both penned within about a month. Taken its title from one of these newly-penned songs, SERENITY IN MURDER's first official release, a full-length entitled "The First Frisson Of The World" will be released to the world by SPIRITUAL BEAST. * Discography 2010 Hell Gate (V.A.) 2011 The First Frisson Of The World
