About Seven Summers
Seven Summers is an alternative rock band from Essex in the UK. The band; Matt Cardle (voice and acoustic guitar), Alex Baker (drums), Jon Holland (bass) and Neillo (guitars), gelled instantly from the first rehearsal. As songs and arrangements fell quickly into place, the chemistry was obvious. Within weeks of the first rehearsals, the band were installed into a residential studio, tracking during the day and rehearsing late into the night. They returned to their debut show, billed simply as 'Matt Cardle', delivering a set to a unsuspecting local audience that belied the ink-still-wet nature of the songs. Throughout the Summer they established themselves as a must-see live act and in between several more shows, they added a further half dozen songs to their repetoire. They returned to the studio to complete tracking, and with mix, master, videos and art wrapped up the debut album "Seven Summers" was released on 22nd Janaury 2010. The band followed that immediately with the new single "Picture of You", having just lifted Panics 'Best Band 2010' award. Seven Summers centres on Matt's extraordinary voice; instantly recognisable and suited perfectly to this comfortably alternative yet accessible band. Rock, pop, urban, and folk influences sit comfortably together in the songs as Alex digs deep into electronic and rock influences, with Jon creating the locked down, low-end rythym section that drives the band. Neillo creates the colour and the dirt, trading hooks with Matt, somewhere between lead and rythym given the space by the ever-present, essential acoustic guitar. Seven Summers album is available on itunes. The single 'Picture of you' is available free on last.FM. www.myspace.com/sevensummersband sevensummers@me.com
