Meet people through music
Smoosh were a three piece band from Seattle, Washington in 2000 previously signed to Pattern 25, now signed to Barsuk Records; which is home to such acts as Death Cab for Cutie, Mates of State, They Might Be Giants and Rilo Kiley. Asya and Chloe of the group are now in the band Chaos Chaos. They're made up of 19-year-old Asya Saavedra (pronounced AH-zee) who plays the keyboard, is the lead singer and writes the lyrics; 17-year-old Chloe Saavedra, who plays drums and does the backing vocals; and 15-year-old Maia Saavedra, who plays bass guitar. Asya and Chloe were 12 and 10, respectively, when their first album, 'She Like Electric,' was released in September of 2004. Recently, younger sister Maia has joined the band on tour to play bass guitar on some songs. Smoosh has performed their hit song 'Find a Way' on Jimmy Kimmel Live, their first appearance on late-night TV. Asya, Chloe and Maia do not give their last name to interviewers. The original duo (Chloe and Asya) generated buzz through their connection with Jason McGerr (Chloe's drum teacher at the Seattle Drum School) of Death Cab for Cutie and also through the support of other indie royalty, like Cat Power and Sleater-Kinney. Their two albums 'She Like Electric' and 'Free To Stay' have achieved high critical acclaim. Smoosh toured internationally in 2006 supporting Eels and in America in 2007 with Bloc Party. They are currently working on songs for their third album and touring with The Dresden Dolls. Their third album "Withershins" was released June 29, 2010. On June 12, 2012, in a Facebook post, they announced that Smoosh was no longer active, and that the sisters would continue on as Chaos Chaos.
