About Stuðmenn

Stuðmenn are an Icelandic pop rock band. The band was founded at "Menntaskólinn Hamrahlið" school as a private joke in 1970. The name "Stuðmenn" originates from a discussion between Jakob and Valgeir durning a car trip to come up with the silliest, most ridiculous name for a band. Their debut album "Sumar á Sýrlandi" in ´75 became an instant success on the market and critics cheered the band frenetically as the milestone of Icelandic pop music.
