About Subburbia
Subburbia has been for 3 years, that kind of band that changes band-mates like picks. They estimate around 30 ex-Subburbias are out there and once they had 3 keyboards and no bass. It was a long journey to find the right people and right sound, but for one year now, Subburbia is the same band: Emil, the frontmen and only original member, Ernani, who already was playing synth when Vir became the new drummer and Marina Penny added the guitar and vocals that now define their new sound: witty, sexy and chaotic. But even with constant changes, Subburbia managed to become one of the most hyped indie bands in the country, blame Emil, whose performance is quite hard to forget, Lucio Ribeiro, the music journalist that once brought CSS to light, and their new ep PENTAGRAMA, that comes together with a 24min documentary and is violently widening the range of Subburbia's fans. The plans for Subburbia include the release of Wrong Riot's music video in the end of March, new single in June, an international tour asap, and world domination. ...RELEASE In the brazilian press, Subburbia is compared to CSS all the time. The band obviously hates it, but admits that there are a few things in common and hopefully, many others separating them. This comparison has not much to do with their sound, but loads with their gig, which can put you in a certain mood that only Lovefoxx would be able to in a decade back. Subburbia is Emil, Ernani, Marina Penny and Vir, two lads that met when Stone Roses were rocking the brazilian radio, and two school drop-outs that can't come up with something better than making music. They would rather be compared to Iceage, but they have no wave, and they care about stuff. And also, around 10 people in Brazil know Iceage (Subburbia counting). This recurrent comparison might come from the fact that like CSS, Subburbia don't sound much brazilian. They sound just... new and closer to the reality of our unbound world. They plan to prove this right in their first UK and Europe tour, happening in 2012.
