About TRAX
Trax is a name of at least five artists: [1] A South Korean rock band (aka 트랙스 and The Trax), formed summer 2004, by S.M. Entertainment (SME) and formerly produced by Yoshiki Hayashi (林 佳樹 aka Yoshiki - X Japan co-founder). Their name stands for "recording tracks", and the first letter of each member's stage name (Typhoon of the Rose Attack on Xmas). They débuted with single "Paradox" (Jul 2004, SME). The four year search for members started in 2000. Part of the original line up, of Kim Young-deok (aka Jay Kim / 제이김 and Typhoon), No Min Woo (노민우 - aka Rose) and Kang Jung-woo (aka Attack), first appeared in the 'Battle of the Century' 2002 'survival audition': 문희준 vs Ahn Chil-hyun (aka 강타), along with Kim Junsu (김준수 - aka Xiah Junsu / 시아준수 of JYJ), Lee Sung-min (aka Sungmin of Super Junior) and Lee Hyuk Jae (이혁재 - aka EunHyuk / 은혁 of Super Junior). It was from this and several other auditions that SME found, and began training, the original line-up. "Paradox" heralded their first concerts, at the Ziller Hall, Seoul, the same month. They were featured on 동방신기's début Tri-Angle (Oct 2004, SME - along with Kwon Boa / 권보아, aka Boa). In preparation for their Japanese début, they changed image, to appear more western, also resulting in their standing-out in Korean. Their music also changed, becoming more melodic, and they collaborated with producer Hayashi, on X-Japan-cover "Tears". The début in Japan came with single "Scorpio" (Dec 2004, Avex Trax), simultaneously released in Korea. Later, they featured on Dong Bang Shin Ki's second album, Rising Sun (Sept 2005, SME). In May of 2006, No Min Woo, left the band to pursue other interests, returning to college to study art (at the Seoul College of Art) and started acting in movies and dramas. 가슴이 차가운 남자 (25 Jan 2010, SME - aka Trax Mini Album Volume 1), contains songs written and composed by both Kang and Kim - featuring Kim Kibum (김기범 - aka Key / 키 of SHINee / 샤이니), Choi Hwee-Sung (aka 휘성 of T-Max / 티맥스) and Shin Min Chul (신민철 of T-Max). Kang departed the band in 2009 and did not participate in 가슴이 차가운 남자 promotion. EP 오! 나의 여신님 (6 Sept 2010, SME - aka Oh! My Goddess), featured Seo Joo-Hyun (서주현 aka Seohyun / 서현 of Girls' Generation / 소녀시대 / 少女時代), in the MV for its title-track, "Oh! My Goddess".
