About The Aliens
There are at least four artists called The Aliens: 1. A psychedelic/alternative band from Scotland 2. A psychedelic band from Virginia, United States 3. A rock band from Ghana 4. A power pop band from Australia 1. The Aliens are a psychedelic/alternative rock band which formed in Fife, Scotland in 2004. They consist of Gordon "Lone Pigeon" Anderson (vocals, guitar), John Maclean (keyboards, vocals) and Robin Jones (drums). All are former members of the group The Beta Band, though Anderson left the group early in their career. The band released their debut album, "Astronomy for Dogs" on March 19, 2007 (accompanied by the single "Setting Sun"), and a second record, "Luna" on September 29, 2008. In spring of 2008, the band canceled all of their shows (excluding festival performances) due to the ill health of Gordon Anderson. He had become "acutely psychotic" during the recording of "Luna", but has now fully recovered. www.thealiens.co.uk 2. The Aliens were a psychedelic rock band based in Norfolk, Virginia and were together from 1967 through 1969. At the height of their popularity the band consisted of 3 lead singers, Bill "Byrd" Sechman, Gail "Pooneil" Holloman and Robbie House. The other members were Steve Green (rhythm guitar) John Davis (lead guitar), Bill Gaunce (bass, vocals), Nick Bonis (organ, vocals) and Conrad Dedicatoria (who later changed his name to Morgan Hampton). They released two singles, (Tobacco Road b/w Love Someone and Come Fly With Me b/w Season of the Witch) but are most remembered by fans of "Psych Music" for their searing, psychedelic cover of Donovan's "Season of the Witch" which can be found on the out-of-print compilation "Fistful of Fuzz". They became widely known as "The Norfolk Aliens" when they entered a "battle of the bands" with another, albeit lesser, band that used the "Aliens" monicker". Several members of the band continue to perform in various locations around the United States. 3. The Aliens were a band from Ghana. They are Ghana's best known rock band, sometimes known as The Psychedelic Aliens or The Magic Aliens. 4. The Aliens were a new wave/ power pop group from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Formed in 1078, they were one of the first Australian bands of the late 1970s to adopt the New Wave "uniform" of black clothes and skinny ties. The Aliens recorded several singles, "Confrontation"/"Boys in Black" (Mushroom [December 1979] AUS #36), "Follow That Girl"/"The Hyding of Dr Jekyll" (Mushroom [February 1980] AUS #48) and "I Don't Care"/"Over My Head" (Planet X [December 1981]) and one album, Translator (Mushroom [1980]).
