Meet people through music
The Evidence is a post-everything rock band formed in Calgary, Canada in 2002. Originally known as The Failure, the group rose out of the ashes of regional punk rock bands The Everymen and Guilt Trip. Drummer-vocalist Casey Lewis, guitarist-vocalist Tyler Pickering, and guitarist vocalist Dean Rud are all original members. After a series of tour van mishaps, broken bones, and songwriting disputes, original bass player Colin Hess left the group in 2007 and was briefly replaced by fellow musician and friend, John Gerrard. It was at this stage that the group regrouped under the moniker "The Evidence." Rumor has it that Rudd's Mom had something to do with the name change. In 2009, bassist-vocalist Randy Burton joined the group, and The Evidence released it's debut album, Polarity on Meter Records. The Meter one-sheet for Polarity reads as follows: "Unabashed members of the obscuro-geek-punk elite, The Evidence delivers the debut album promised at their inception: Polarity - a concise contemplation of our age's highs and lows that thrashes, pummels, and slices it's way into the core of the conscious. The Evidence's sound has been described as precision-punk, progressive-post-punk, and even gentleman's metal - and though there's a common thread making them at home on stage with hardcore and indie-pop bands alike, The Evidence can't really help but stick out - for better or worse. Fans of the timeless elements of Queen and Rush will notice nods to these influences while also drawing parallels to the likes of Coheed and Cambria, Circa Survive, Bad Religion, Tool, Brand New, and even AFI."
