About The Turpentines
In the seventh grade, Jonah Simone and Daniel Pope got together and began to jam together, creating catchy but rough and gnarly tunes. However, as they slowly realized their musical potential with a variety of bassists, playing and recording an album, an EP, and a rash of demos as Alligator Pears, they forged an unbreakable musical connection. Now, with the funky and rocking bassist Charlie Meyer, The Turpentines rise from the ashes of the Alligator Pears, a sometimes funky, sometimes crazy, sometimes beautifully resonating band with a unique fusion of sounds. With Jonah's fiery guitar licks, Charlie's funky and driving bass, and the polyrhythmic drumbeats of Daniel Pope, this is a musical enterprise that should not be missed. Ghosts of the oldies (Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Sly & the Family Stone...) can be found in their music; however, many new influences (The Mars Volta, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead) can also be heard. These influences and many more, along with three unique musical minds, all combine together to create something truly impressive, a band certain to get you moving with their CD and guaranteed to blow you away live. Are you ready for The Turpentines?
