About Trabant
There are at least 3 bands named as Trabant: one is an Iceland rock group formed in 2001; the second one was a short-lived underground hungarian alternative group in the '80s, still having cult-status; the other is an Italian band from Trieste. The Hungarian one: This band was formed in 1980 in Hungary. It was one of the most important Hungarian underground bands. Members were Gábor Lukin, Marietta Méhes and János Vető. This band has quite quickly become a cult-band. They made very low-key, very lo-fi music, which was meant to exist rather in a small room than on stage. Their music was quite experimental and free, somewhat clumsy and honest. The very unique, soft, yet cold voice of Marietta Méhes was also influential part of their sound. Though Marietta was the lead singer, on some concerts they used other singers, for example cult-hero Tamás Pajor (Neurotic), Mariann Urbán (Embersport), or Attila Grandpierre (ex-VHK, Vágtázó Csodaszarvas). Along with other important underground band Balaton, their company consisted of lot of talented young artists, like Mihály Víg, who worked with both bands, director Gábor Bódy, or Zoltán Gazsi. In the early eighties Marietta Méhes started a quite successful acting career, appearing in such films, like Kutya éji dala (Gábor Bódy, 1983), or Eszkimó asszony fázik (János Xantus, 1984). These films had and have a small fan base and a lot of people who consider them as important parts of the underground culture of those years. Marietta Méhes mentioned in an interview that she hadn't considered those films as successful ones and herself as a cult star. Now, all members live abroad. They haven't had an album ever since. And they didn't want to have one either. Later they agreeed to have two concerts (one concert, and one rehersal open for the public), on 18th and 20th January in 2011. Both attracted great audiences and some media attention The Icelandic one: Trabant's five members come from very different backgrounds in the Reykjavik music scene: One rap producer with the sailors blood pumping; a death metal guru, a crazy in the head champion DJ; a preachers son and the former boyband star. Together, all these influences explode in the mighty Trabant. For the past nine years in various guises, Trabant have worked in each others pockets endlessly circulating the Reykjavik music scene. Long periods of experimentation and isolation within smoke-filled rooms, with cheap vodka and computers equate to a perfectly formed eclectic battle-field sound. Highly energetic live performances with their reputation proceeding them has lead to somewhat of an excitable following of this Icelandic 5 piece and things are just about to get going. With a habit of collecting age old instruments, Trabant resourcefully remain to instill all that is great about impulsive music making. The Italian one: Four members make up Trabant actually: Giulia (keyboards), Giacomo (drums), Giovanni (voice, guitar) and Michele (bass). The band operates in Trieste, in the north-east of Italy, but has collected several gigs around the Country anyway. After having crossed different line-ups and genres, Trabant has finally find his stable form in 2006. In October 2007 they have released their first album, "Music 4 Losers", recorded for R!SVP Records. check trabant.it for details. The Finnish one: 5-piece Rock N`Roll Band from Helsinki with Christian Message. Formed in 90s
