About Wolfgang Parker
Wolfgang Parker has been on the radar for nearly fourteen years in and around Columbus, Ohio where they began by playing in punk clubs by default because they couldn't, and didn't want to, classify their sound into any one category. These legends debuted their new record, Room Nineteen last month; an album that's matured into a lighter swing-rock, even if the lyrics remain dirty. Wolfgang Parker, Alan Mauger and Aaron Apter met during their high school years and bonded because of their love for punk rock and long black hair, but the band formed out of a need to express themselves in a way that no one else had done musically. And their appreciation for music went beyond the garage band misfits and found its roots in the very traditional elements of honky tonk and jazz. The marriage between the three evolved into what they call their "swing punk" sound. Wolfgang Parker has been slated a Dean Martin reincarnation, with a Cab Calloway stage presence, backed by The Clash. Nearly every underground forum from here to Texas has dubbed them "the worlds first and only punk swing band". What else do they have to live up to? Nothing. The band lives to prove that the only true punk is one who is himself. So forgo the tattoos, mohawks, DIY clothing and bad attitude, this threesome's gracious to their fans, clad in ties and clean shaven. We'd prefer to see them dressed in their street clothes as a nod to their individual personalities, but they still rock out on stage. If his music isn't enough of a creative outlet, Wolfgang spends the rest of his time photographing nude goddesses. He's got photo-shoot casting down to a science, handpicking only classic beauties who he prefers have the ability to act well also, to give his photographs the air of drama. These images have served well as promotional fliers, banner ads and even album art. Part of being a punk really is doing it all yourself.
