About Zi:Kill
ZI:KILL blended their own eclectic style of neopunk and gothic rock in Japan from 1989-1994. Formed in November of 1987 and originally of Extasy Records, the original lineup of Tusk, Ken, Seiichi, and Masami climbed to the top of the indie charts with thier fist release shin sekai - REAL OFTHE WORLD - in 1989. Yukihiro (now of L'Arc~en~Ciel)then replaced Masami, and ZI:KILL followed up Real of the World with Close Dance in 1990. They scored a deal with Toshiba EMI the following year and set the bar for their genre, but a developing whirlwind of trouble in their business affairs led to an unavoidable conflict at the end of 1991. After that, ZI:KILL succeeded to hit big again with their 3rd original album "ROCKET" in 1993, which ranked 5th on the Oricon. They went on to play the Tokyo Budokan twice, and then abruptly dissolved in 1994. Trivia: ZI:KILL could never keep a drummer, and went through four before their breakup in 1994, one of which was Yukihiro of L'Arc~en~Ciel/DIE IN CRIES who joined the band in 1990, and left in 1998 after recording Desert Town (ZI:KILL's second major release). He was replaced by Tetsu who was replaced by Eby who was with them when they dispersed. ZI:KILL essentially became CRAZE with Seiichi, Tusk and Tetsu. CRAZE released their first album Be Crazy in 1995 on TKMA.
