The characters and relationships left the strongest impression on me, because I’d like to think that if they were able to overcome their mistrust and help each other, maybe the same would be possible with most anyone.

The thing about G.H. reading warning signs in the market was interesting, but it reminded me of random number generators too, and how there have been anomalies in the randomness of numbers right before things like 911, and other major events. I need to look for the links, because it’s fascinating and scary.

My take was that the attack in the film was worldwide, and affected most, if not all, satellites. It would have to be a conspiracy of government and military, defense contractors, aerospace corporations, with elements of foreign governments joining in as well. I’m not sure if the goal was a culling, a hard reset, or an attempt to create a one-world government. I wonder if you’re finding answers in the book.

You have interesting points too, and I’ve been trying to understand why the animal behavior/migration was affected by what was essentially a meltdown of technology. Maybe they were escaping the microwave attacks, or confused by the absence of electromagnetic fields. But the film mentioned an environmental disaster, which could have been due to a nuclear reactor meltdown or something, but doesn’t the weather change too (at least in the book summary I read)? It’s silly, but I wondered if they were suggesting weather control satellites, or the absence of them if most communications and navigation satellites were down. I guess the one world government conspiracy makes the most sense to me.

The unabomber manifesto makes interesting reading, especially now. It’s shocking that he made a leap of logic to dependence on artificial intelligence systems so far back.
