Typical strategy, we saw it throughout the campaign. Take an extreme position in the hope the other side comes to compromise. We'll see how it plays out. Unfortunate that some may likely die during riots etc.
Riots or wars.

Let's note the fact that only one person has really discussed his own political opinions related to this topic and it wasn't even the guy who started this thread.
incorrect. i did, as well.
what i wrote about trump blowing up the entire region was not made in jest. i find it a completely feasible thing for him to want to do, based upon the acts perpetrated by that disease-ravaged brain of his, over the course of this past year..
That Sounds Like the Title of an Essay
I guess I misunderstood your post. My comments to the original poster were meant to be snarky. I know that this forum doesn't attract users that have an interest in political debate. That's why I was sending him to Politics.fm. Maybe someone can make that a website.
He's probably just a Russian bot anyway. /snark
how can you not agree with a fact? if no one posts on any particular topic, it will get buried on subsequent pages, with the rest of the topics that no one is posting on, no matter what its content is about. that's how a 'recent posts' list functions.also, if you look at the total number of posts for all of the subject pages, you will see that the 'word association' page (a non music-oriented topic) has far more posts on it than any other page ever made.
To be fair, the word association game is probably the oldest topic at 6 years old. By comparison, the song association is only 4 years old and started/finish + one song per year are both only about one year old.
About 3/4 of the threads currently appearing on the first three pages relate to music, and several of the non-music topics have been taken over by people just posting songs anyway.
I think based on sheer superiority of numbers, stale music-related topics are more likely to get bumped.
Let's note the fact that only one person has really discussed his own political opinions related to this topic and it wasn't even the guy who started this thread. I am personally very much relieved that people on this site almost never discuss their specific political views, other than the general and true notion that shit sucks.
And I don't agree with your statement that every topic is buried on this website. Music-oriented topics will organically rise to the top and irrelevant topics will be buried.

Is it wrong to want a refuge from a constant barrage of political discussion elsewhere?
no, but to do that, you must leave the internet, altogether. if you want to associate with other users on the internet and read their typed words, you will forever get the good with the bad, so to speak. there isn't (and should not be) any filter.. except for the nazi pigfuck website moderators who ban users for using profanities, which does little more than to promote an atmosphere of censorship and intolerance towards unimpeded conversation.
I fully agree with your stance on freedom of expression, but I also think @Shwax has a point. The 'topic of politics' is disproportionally and very readily discussed elsewhere on the internet. Simply putting the words "Trump" and "Israel" on a topic is going monopolize this forum.

yeah, and that is the case with EVERY topic on this website.
you saying 'stop commenting and look elsewhere' doesn't solve anything, except to drive home the point that YOU don't want to talk about politics on this site.
i'm not overtly political, for the most part, but i am pro-freedom of expression.
