Right guys, here is an UFO that deserves so much more credit (TBH I love my movies the same way I love my music, UNDERRATED AND UNDERAPPRECIATED :)

So my choice for the movie is JCVD (2008).

Back in 2008 Jean-Claude Van Damme starred in a movie as himself, both shot in French and English, coming back to Belgium to take a break from his legal troubles in America, to relax, reconnect with his family and his country, until an unfortunate event happens and gets him involved...

A mix of drama, semi-autobiography, light comedy and shot as a polar Noir, Van Damme delivers a performance that you never seen before, he really took his role as himself personally, literally taking time to break the 4th wall during a very emotional scene to explain to his audience what happened throughout is life...

Sadly the movie bombed at the box office, but later became an absolute cult following which shocked and impressed fans and non-fans altogether, an absolute must-watch, very entertaining, touching and moreover very honest towards the audience.. It is to me a masterpiece and changed the way many many people were seeing JCVD as just the Muscles From Brussels..

Okay, So James is living it up in Portugal and he had the following insights:

“ Solid action movie that focussed on the micro story of that small group before widening out to the big picture of the civil war / revolution that’s happening.

The photographers are simultaneously traumatised by the atrocities they are witnessing and excited by them And powerless to stop them The freeze frames that show what the photo would have been present them as art - the opposite of atrocity Evens ego is on display, the journalists for the story / pictures And the soldiers to have the moment captured, hence the tolerate and protect the press The end of the movie suggests that the revolution is the popular cause and the overthrow / execution is justified.. How though to justify the war crimes we witness throughout the movie…

And finally, who’d have thought Jessie Plemons would be the breakout actor from Friday Night Lights - In your face Taylor Kitcsh!”.

I will make some suggestions tonight but my movie taste is as "weird" as JD Vance.... sorry I couldn't resist!
