The Hobbit
Anyone seen it yet? I was a big fan of the book growing up but am a little put-off by the fact there are 3 movies. Still won't be able to resist...

Yes&No!
It's okay so long as you aren't bothered by them changing details from the book. (Okay as in, pretty similar in tone to the LOTR movies which were watchable for me but not exactly fantastic). Reading the books when I was young, I thought there was more of a difference between those in the way the Hobbit seemed quite like a fairytale whereas LOTR seemed like an epic akin to various European mythology.
To avoid disappointment, read all of the books first, then watch the movies! But not sure how they could make a Silmarillion movie...any ideas?
The Hobbit could've been 90 minutes long had they just gotten those damn eagles to drop them off at the dwarf mountain instead of a rock 500 ft. tall and 300 miles away.

Seems to me they all have videogame moments, sadly.
Haven't seen the third yet. The first two is great entertainment, but I felt like I was watching a videogame at times (in the way of style). The seriousness of the LOTR-trilogy is more appealing to me. Has anybody other than Peter Jackson made 6 movies from one universe? :)
I loved the 3 movies, I thought they did pretty well making 3 movies out of the book, some things were a bit different but they did make for a good watch. And it has a good choice of Actors, and getting Legolas in it was a fun wee bonus, There was a lot of moments that hinted towards things that happen in the LOTR trilogy, I expected the to wink at the camera haha.
One thing totally ruins the Hobbit trilogy, and that is the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. The fact that pretty much the same group of people were almost spot on in turning that Novel in to a full length movie, made this movie over-hyped and highly anticipated. Many expected something much better that was along the lines of LOTR and they got something that isn't even on par with Harry Potter (if your going to compare movies that were made from fantasy novels).
I should have known they'd all be awful but nothing really prepared me for just how bad they were, the only saving grace was Martin Freeman.
