- reduce (ideally to zero) processed food.
- stop snacking.
- when you eat your meal. satiate yourself. forget calories. Sugar, fruit and carbs satiate you sooner, but they make you hungry again earlier!
- I recommend no more than 2 meals a day.
- fast for at least 14 hours EVERY DAY (this includes sleeping hours, so it is easy). start with 10 hours, you'll get there in no time. when hungry, drink water. or tea or coffee. No sugar, no honey no milk, no sweeteners. You may want to get some elecrolytes in your water
- if you break any of these rules, don't punish yourself, get back to it as soon as possible.
- Once in a while try a fasting for more than 17 hours, it heals your body!

Good food and excersise is not always the answer although it is a big help.
Unless they have a medical problem or have just been brought up badly by their parents most people are fat usually because of their state of mind, maybe they are depressed, have low self esteem, no self control or other issues. It's a problem which is different for every individual and so can't be solved with one blanket solution.
Telling someone with those problems to just eat less or eat healthy is like trying to tell an alcoholic to just stop drinking or drink non alcoholic drinks.
